Type fast or get buried
Words descend through the playfield while you type. Clear each word before it reaches the keyboard, protect your three lives, and adapt as the pace increases. Every correct key contributes to your score and speed; mistakes lower accuracy and interrupt a useful combo. The result is typing practice with immediate consequences, not a passive wall of text.
Shitype reports words per minute, typing accuracy, score, best combo, and survival time. The separate timed test removes gravity when you want a clean 30, 60, or 120-second WPM test.
How to play Shitype
- Choose a visual keyboard and start an endless, daily, or classic run.
- Type each falling word exactly as shown before it reaches the bottom.
- Keep accuracy high, build combos, and use your results to guide the next attempt.
No account or installation is required. A physical keyboard gives the fastest experience, while mobile input is supported for practice on smaller screens.
Improve your typing speed
Useful speed grows from repeatable, accurate movement. Start at a pace where you can finish words cleanly, read slightly ahead, and resist turning one error into several rushed corrections. Regular short sessions make hesitation visible and help familiar letter patterns become automatic.
Compare results over several sessions instead of chasing one unusually fast run. A steady WPM with stronger accuracy is a better foundation than a brief peak filled with corrections. The score, combo, and survival metrics provide different views of the same progress.
Use the free typing speed test to measure pure WPM and accuracy, then switch to the falling words typing game to practise recognition and reaction under pressure.
Mechanical keyboard feedback
Five visual keyboard styles provide distinct character while shared mechanical sounds make each keystroke feel immediate. Sound and volume controls are optional, and reduced-motion settings keep the experience comfortable without changing the typing challenge.
The keyboard display reacts to your real inputs, giving you a clear visual rhythm without adding delay to the typing loop.
Daily challenges and multiplayer
The daily typing challenge gives everyone the same seeded falling-word sequence for the day. For a direct race, create a multiplayer typing game, share its six-character code, and watch participant scores update on the live leaderboard. Each player can use their preferred keyboard style while racing the same sequence.
